successfully recover deleted pictures...
When Pictures Get Deleted....
When digital pictures (or any files) are
deleted, the data itself is not erased. It is just the index entry that shows where the data for those files is
located that gets removed. The area where the deleted picture data was stored is also now marked as free space
so it is available to the system for any new files to be written there instead.
So any new files could to be written to the space. If and when that happens,
then it is too late to recover your deleted pictures.
So,
it's very important to not do anything that might cause new files and data
to be written to the device that you deleted pictures from,
and now just read on to recover your deleted
photos....
Photo Recovery and how to Recover Pictures
from a PC
If the deleted photos had already been transferred to a PC hard
drive and have been lost from there, then you need to be extremely careful what you do next for the best
chance of successful photo recovery.
This involves using that computer as little as possible to minimise disk activity.
If you are reading this page on the same computer on which you need to recover deleted pictures, do nothing further
on this computer. Do not close this internet browser window. Use another computer and visit this site, Recover Deleted Pictures, from
there instead.
If you need to recover pictures from your computer's hard drive in
particular, you should refrain from any further activity on that computer.
This means you should not use it to browse the internet as this causes lots of temporary files to be written to the
disk. Remember, any disk activity reduces the likelihood that you will be able to recover deleted pictures using
any photo recovery software.
You should NOT open applications or programs as this also often causes lots of disk activity making the successful
photo recovery and the recovering deleted pictures more difficult.
You should also NOT close any applications or programs as this may cause files to be updated and saved to the disk.
Any application that is still writing data to disk should be halted if possible, preferably still without actually
closing it.
Do NOT shut down, close or reboot your PC. This may cause applications or Windows itself to save data by creating
new files, potentially overwriting your lost data and again making it more difficult to recover pictures.

Photo Recovery and how to Recover Deleted Pictures from a Camera Memory Card
Most of today's digital cameras use memory card devices such as SD,
MiniSD, XD, CompactFlash, SmartMedia, Sony Memory Stick, and MMC memory cards to store and retrieve photos and
image data.
As with a PC disk drive, it is quite possible to undertake photo recovery and to recover deleted pictures from a
camera memory card and very often with more success.
Unlike a computer's disk drive, memory card devices store the data on a small chip contained inside. However, a
camera memory card is little different to a disk drive with regards to the way that data (the digital picture
images) is stored on and retrieved from it.
This includes what happens when digital picture image files are deleted from the camera memory card. Similarly, the
same principles apply if you need to undertake photo recovery to recover deleted photos or movie files from a
memory card.
For photo recovery techniques to have the best chance of success when trying to recover deleted photos, do not save
any more images or files to the camera memory card concerned.
In most cases,
all or most of the deleted photo image data
is still contained on the memory card
You stand a good chance of being able to recover deleted pictures until new data (a new picture) is saved onto the
card. At that point the likelihood of successful photo recovery diminishes.
In many instances it is also possible to recover deleted pictures from a camera memory card even after a reformat
of the card while in the camera. However, some proprietary techniques for reformatting can sometimes completely
wipe all traces of the files from the card and make it impossible for photo recovery software to recover deleted
pictures in these cases.
